SHIMMER

“Sing, sing a song. Make it simple to last your whole life long. Don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear, just sing, sing a song” – Joe Raposo

I’m learning how to sing, and thought you might want to too. C’mon. Admit it. You’re already doing it in the car and shower anyways. Let’s be real… singing feels gooood. We all have a voice, a message, a song. Sometimes it just takes a while to find it. So part of the journey for me to find mine includes starting to learn to sing. Starting with covers.

As many of you know, I’ve recently started playing with Dwayne Hedges. He sings, writes music, plays guitar and is basically just all around awesome. So we were talking about it last night and decided it would be cool to post the songs we’re learning here, in case anyone wants to sing along…

Last week we were learning “Shimmer” by Fuel. I recorded Dwayne practicing the guitar part on my IC Recorder, so that I could put it on my iPod and practice while spending my life driving back and forth between courthouses and yoga studios.

Here’s the Mp3: “Shimmer”

Here are the lyrics:

She calls me from the cold
Just when I was low, feeling short of stable
All that she intends
And all she keeps inside, isn’t on the label
She’s, she’s ashamed
And can she take me for a while
And can I be a friend, we’ll forget the past
Or maybe I’m not able

And I break at the bend

We’re here and now, will we ever be again
‘Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
Away again

She dreams a champagne dream
Strawberry surprise, pink linen on white paper
Lavender and cream
Fields of butterflies, reality escapes her
She says that love is for fools that fall behind
And I’m somewhere in between
I never really know
A killer from a savior

‘Till I break at the bend

We’re here and now, will we ever be again
‘Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
Away again

It’s too far away for me to hold
It’s too far away… X 2, bridge, X 4

Guess I’ll let it go

Rock on,
Shana
